The Decline of the Traditional Family
The decline of the traditional family is one of the worst things happening in the United States today. The mad Libs love it and do all that they can to encourage it, because they see the traditional family as being in the way of every perversion and delusion that they wish to institute in society. The mad Libs create the illusion that they are merely trying to protect "unusual" or "different" people from the unfair, harmful prejudice and discrimination inflicted on them by all of those tyrannical heterosexual husbands and wives who "just don't get it" about "the others". But, as with everything else the mad Libs say, that's all a pack of lies.
“There is no instrument of hard work, savings, and job creation as effective as the family. There is no cultural institution as ennobling as family life. And there is no superior, indeed no equal, means to rear the young, protect the weak, or attend the elderly. None,” said Ronald Reagan when he was President.
Jennifer Marshall of The Heritage Foundation wrote in 2008 that, based on the numbers, children from traditional families “have better health, are less likely to be depressed, are less likely to repeat a grade in school, and have fewer developmental problems”...while their counterparts in non-traditional families “are more likely to experience poverty, abuse, behavioral and emotional problems, lower academic achievement, and drug use.”
There are certain heavily documented facts that those who are hostile to the traditional family--that is, a family consisting of one man, one woman, and their children (who may be theirs biologically, or adopted children, or step-children)--are not on a very sound footing. Even in ancient civilizations which recognized a man’s right to have more than one wife such as that of the Aztecs, there was still just one “chief” wife who came first and who was the stabilizer and quite often the business manager of the household—and there was never a male “wife”, and no woman ever had a female “husband”.
What are the facts--as based on the numbers?
- Married couples have higher incomes, on average, than everyone else. Anybody who is familiar with the central concern of economics--which is incentives--will not be the least bit surprised. A man and a woman who enter into marriage enter into a committed business partnership, among other things. Please note, this is before-tax income--this is not at all about the tax-break incentives that the traditional heterosexually-based family admittedly enjoys.
- Married adults have longer life spans and better health on average. When "the search is over", you can focus more on your personal health needs, mental as well as physical, while also experiencing less stress.
- The children of married couples are, on average, victims of far less violence. When a woman just "shacks up" with a mere boyfriend, she has less incentive to fully check him out first...meaning he has a higher probability of being a jackass. In fact, research has shown that a woman who “shacks up” with a boyfriend exposes her children to 40 times the likelihood of being abused by the man.
- Married people are less likely to abuse alcohol, and their children are less likely to be exposed to such.
- The children of married people are less likely to be poor in their adult lives .
Now, there are individual exceptions to every rule. And, it is very obvious that a child who comes from a traditional family has no guarantees, based on that fact alone, of being psychologically healthier or more successful than children from different backgrounds than theirs. And, it is obvious that many people get married without sufficient reflection or maturity. But, in the end, the laws of probability absolutely favor the lives of the members of a so-called traditional family in every way, including financially.
To the mad Libs, we say: until you find something better than or equal to the traditional family unit, stop trying to destroy that which you are viciously envious of and which is the backbone of the greatest nation on Earth.
