The Truth About Obamas Cap and Trade
Well, Obama's cap and trade plan is poised to cost American taxpayers and businesses (who have to pass on all taxes to their customers or else run a high risk of going out of business) a huge amount of money--and, for what? Does anyone on the Left even care?
President Obama's cap and trade plan, allegedly imposed to help the climate, has been estimated to ultimately cost industry nearly $2 trillion--which is more than three times the White House's original estimate, according to Jason Furman, who is one of Obama's top guns on his staff.
Now, one of Obama's chief aids said to Senate staffers in February 2009 that Obama's cap and trade plan was assured of raising more than the estimated $646 billion over eight years (presumably eight years of Obama rule) that Obama's administration originally estimated. Some members of Obama's White House staff have confidentially stated that this estimate is "conservative".
What is cap and trade, you ask? Well, Obama's stupid cap and trade plan is intended to diminish pollution by putting limits on carbon emissions while permitting businesses and groups to buy allowances. If businesses don't buy the allowances or exceed them and their limits, they are taxed significantly. Former Senator Obama, while he was in the Congress, had estimated that the cost could well go over $366 billion each year by 2015.
Republicans and even so-called moderate Democrats have stated that it's a terrible mistake to raise taxes and fees on businesses in the midst of a recession.
New Republican Party Chairman Michael Steel has said, "The last thing we need is a massive tax increase in a recession, but reportedly that's what the White House is offering: up to $1.9 trillion in tax hikes on every single American who drives a car, turns on a light switch or buys a product made in the United States. And since this energy tax won't affect manufacturers in Mexico, India, and China, it will do nothing but drive American jobs overseas."
What is cap and trade, you ask? It's fraud. It's fleecing. The fact of the matter is that what it is supposed to fight--man-made global warming--doesn't exist. There is no science behind this concept at all. Science is against this concept. But when you're dealing with mad Libs and Leftist Liberal Democrats, they don't care. It gives them a power agenda which is all that matters to them.
According to a science paper recently published by Dr. William M. Gray, "The global ocean’s Meridional Overturning Circulation (MOC) resulting from changes in the Atlantic Thermohaline Circulation (THC) and deep water Surrounding Antarctica Subsidence (SAS)...is the likely cause of most of the global warming that has been observed since the start of the industrial revolution (~1850) and for the more recent global warming that has occurred since the mid-1970s. Changes of the MOC since 1995 are hypothesized to have lead to the cessation of global warming since 1998 and to the beginning of a weak global cooling that has occurred since 2001. This weak cooling is projected to go on for the next couple of decades...CO2 increases without positive water vapor feedback could only have been responsible for about 0.1-0.2ºC of the 0.6-0.7ºC global mean surface temperature warming that has been observed since the early 20th century. Assuming a doubling of CO2 by the late 21st century (assuming no positive water vapor feedback), we should likely expect to see no more than about 0.3-0.5ºC global surface warming and certainly not the 2-5ºC warming that has been projected by" the pre-programmed computer models.
This paper was delivered to the 2009 International Conference on Climate Change. So, in other words, the mad Libs are at it again with ignoring science in the name of ideology, and using Newspeak techniques to call mindless ideology "science". So, what is Obama's cap and trade?
