Today, we here all kinds of talk in political and social circles about "progressivism". (Yes, another "ism".) That sounds like an impressive name, doesn't it? It surely is about progress--and progress at the very heart of the American Dream. The progress of upward mobility. The progress of the scientific understanding and the technologies that make our lives fuller and more pleasurable. But...when we look beyond the name, beyond the words, words, words, what do progressives believe? What is "progressivism" really all about?
Well, it surely isn't about progress. As a matter of fact, "progressivism" is really about regression--technological, social, and most of all emotional regression. In literature, the most well-known book about progressivism is George Orwell's 1984, with a close second being Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, which was published even before WWII began but "prophesied" such things as the United Nations and its desire to obliterate the United States and impose a one-world government (the UN was formed in 1947); a drugged-out society; and a human society in which sex is removed from love entirely and people's sex lives reduce them to mere animals--and all of these things are imposed on society by the self-proclaimed "elites" of the government, who run everything and who do not do or get subjugated to any of the base things they make their "citizens" do.
So, to answer our question of "what do progressives believe?", we should say to begin with that they believe that you can call something by any name or words that you want and make it into anything you want it to be--POOF! This is the Orwellian aspect of so-called progressivism : the use of magic word-play and mind-numbing incantations by those who insist that they are "elites" to keep down and totally control the Sheeple--their followers. "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength." And progressivism is a regression and a lie.
In order to continuously obfuscate their true feelings and intentions, progressives usually fail to tell you what they really are. But they are always very quick to label somebody else who opposes them in enemy language--magic words of hatred or acid ridicule. And they virtually always use words or labeling that are the precise opposite of how those they are attacking really are.
To wit, a certain progressivism high priest named Harry Reid of the U.S. Senate--you may have heard of him--recently at the time of this writing told the world that Republicans who oppose the imposition of a costly, harmful, destructive, ruinous government-run (whether literally orde facto) healthcare system in the United States are just like those people who previously opposed women's voting rights and other women's "liberation", the abolition of slavery, and the abolition of Jim Crow practices.Hrm...well, besides the obvious no-brainer problem with his absolutely silly excuse for an analogy, Reid doesn't even know U.S. history. The Republican party was founded in the northern state of Wisconsin in 1854 with its founding platform being the abolition of slavery--something strongly opposed by the southern Democrats. When slavery was successfully terminated, southern Democrats formed theKu Klux Klan in 1871. Then, in 1957, when Republican President Eisenhower demanded that the Congress draft Civil Rights legislation, then-Democrat SenatorStrom Thurmond unsuccessfully attempted to filibuster it, while Senator Lyndon B. Johnson, another Democrat, stated that he didn't like the idea of giving more freedoms to some "uppity Negroes".
But, progress has no patience. So it was that when Senator Johnson become President Johnson in the early 1960s, the Democrats did a magic turncoat trick: they enacted Civil Rights legislation and Johnson signed it! What was so magical about this turncoat trick? Well, with it, the Democrats hypnotized black Americans right back into slavery--on the mental plantations of Big Government dependency. Yet, they could also use the magic words "civil rights" to program the fools of the nation and the world that it was they, the Left, and not those wicked Right Wingers, who cared about those slaves.
What do progressives believe? Their basic tenets can be stated simply enough. They believe that any god should be replaced with government--for government IS god, which is why an incompetent loonie named Obama was hailed by them as a messiah. They believe that freedom is slavery--that is, that personal responsibility is slavery. They believe that fear and hatred are love. And, they believe in not telling you their true names, so we'll do that here: Socialists; Marxists; Communists; Democrats. Evil.
