The April 8th, 2009 'Today Show' continued the slobbering love affair that the media messiah mad Libs have with their perfect puppet spokesman, Emperor Dumbo. On the chopping block in the do-nothing, moronic docket to Europe that was Dumbo's first as Emperor: American exceptionalism.
Gushing talking head-case Matt Lauer couldn't take the acknowledgment of the pathetic fallacy of it all, saying: "Some critics of, of President Obama say the reason the Europeans love him is, is less about respect and more about the fact that he's been somewhat apologetic, and some would call that honest, and, and, and the Europeans like this."
Why was Lauer so discomfited? Why, because he had to face Laura Ingraham being on his own show, who had said: "We know that Europe loves President Obama. He had adoring crowds. The press loves Obama. The question is how will this date end? Okay? The question is, to what end? Why do they love President Obama? They love his personal story, they love his wife. North Korea, China and Russia don't really care about Michelle's arms and, you know, whether they gave an iPod to the Queen, okay? They care about whether America is still going to lead, exhibit strength and doesn't just talk about these vague concepts, Matt, of global cooperation."
Ingraham is referring to American exceptionalism--something that Obama, the Democrat Congress, the mad Lib Statists, and all of the guilt-riddled, self-loathing, self-appointed "elites" in the U.S. and all of their myriad counterparts in Europe cannot abide. They cannot accept that the United States is different from all other nations. Their drooling rants against this obvious reality (which they are intent upon correcting) include the tactics of talking about America's "arrogance" (whatever the hell that means, since if we were truly arrogant we have the power to, at least, take over all of North America, whereas instead we use our incredible production and military power to do things like, say, prevent Germans from taking over the rest of Europe, prevent piracy, and protect the Canadians and the Mexicans who we could so easily conquer); American "imperialism (apparently just like Soviet imperialism except we take over through the power of trade and leaving those we trade with as sovereign as when we opened up our first trade with them--now figure that one out); and, my favorite, pointing out all the ways in which America has been imperfect historically, such as permitting slavery and her often-backhanded dealings with the Native Americans--as if "perfection" is attainable, and as if everyone in the world could be and would be more perfect if only the United States didn't take all of their resources. Yeah, woulda shoulda coulda on the perfectionism, mad Libs.
Emperor Dumbo's favorite refutation of American exceptionalism is that we "are only five percent of the world's population, yet control 25% of the world's resources". Hrm...that sounds to me like it makes us very exceptional indeed. What Dumbo and all of the other dummies who believe in him can't get through their thick skulls is that this is so precisely because Americans are the most productive people the world has ever seen. The resources we command make the entire world a better place--who else is doing that? I mean, if that weren't so, we couldn't have our "imperialistic" trade practices going on, now could we? It's pretty impressive that we have this five-to-one leverage of resources, isn't it? No not to jackasses like the Emperor and the Europeans with their figurative penis envy of the U.S.
American exceptionalism exists as reality because:
American exceptionalism might just come down to: this nation was founded on the concept of thriving, instead of merely surviving. If you know history, you know that's exceptional.
